Newport, Rhode Island Real Estate Information

Homebuyers are spoiled for choices when it comes to Newport real estate. Homes for sale in Newport range from gilded-age mansions to colonial houses, contemporary condos, and chic apartments. Waterfront properties are abundant, as are inland homes with lush lawns and tree-lined driveways.

Newport’s prime real estate is located on Bellevue Avenue and Ocean Avenue. This is where many of the country’s wealthiest families built opulent estates. The Rhode Island homes for sale in this area include historic mansions with modern upgrades and extravagant cottages that have been converted into luxury condos.

In addition to mansions, Newport has one of the highest concentrations of colonial houses in the country. Colonial homes in Newport are typically two storeys and feature original brickwork, high-pitched roofs, and multiple windows that let natural light flow in.

Newport is also home to many luxury condos and townhouses. Many of these one and two-bedroom homes are located in historic buildings that have been remodelled. Luxury homes often feature oversized windows, high ceilings, and state-of-the-art appliances.

Newport, Rhode Island Area Information

Located on the southern tip of Aquidneck Island, Newport is surrounded by beaches and ocean. Most Newport real estate either overlooks the ocean or is within walking distance to the water. The city also boasts many beautiful parks.

Newport has a fascinating history that dates back to 1639 when the city was founded. Benedict Arnold was the first governor of Newport and held the position until his death. From the 19th century onwards, wealthy families built palatial summer cottages here, many of which are still in use today.

Downtown Newport centers around Thames Street, a historic street that runs parallel to the water. This is where you will find many boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants. The downtown waterfront area is popular with residents and visitors alike for its seaside restaurants and wharfs.

The Pell Bridge connects Newport to the island of Jamestown and the mainland, making it easy to access this stunning seaside town. There are also plenty of coastal and inland roads running through the city and around the island, as well as biking paths and hiking trails.
